FANUC Machine Vision Systems provide robotic process solutions for:

  • Machine loading
  • Material handling
  • Visual tracking (linear or circular) and packing
  • Depalletizing
  • Assembly
  • Racking or de-racking of panels and frames
  • Verification and measurement

Comprising three options

FANUC Machine Vision Systems are available in 2-D, 3-D, 2-D Tracking, and 3-D Laser assisted configurations. All configurations are compatible with FANUC SYSTEM R-J3 and R-J3iB™ Controllers. 2-D vision is also available for R-J2 and R-J2 Mate Controllers.

2DV Visual Line Tracking package

Used for a variety of identification and orientation applications the 2DV can be used with an optional Visual Line Tracking that requires no programming to set up and operate.

Visual tracking software provides solutions for:

  • Sorting of non-fixtured parts on moving conveyors
  • Pickup of non-fixtured parts on moving conveyors
  • Placement of parts onto fixtures located on moving conveyors
  • Scanning of stationary parts with a moving camera mounted to the EOA

3DV Vision Sensor

Using only one wrist mounted camera the 3DV system can detect the position and orientation of randomly piled complex parts within 1sec (versus 10min of conventional systems).

Benefits

  • The intelligent robot can replace a parts-feeder or a human operator in parts retrieval and alignment.
  • The simple system layout reduces system costs and cuts down set-up time.
  • Quick and frequent product changes and enables production procedures can be easily handled.
  • The intelligent robots can automate noisy and awkward tasks such as feeding of parts into machining and assembly processes.

Until now, robotic assembly has been dominated by 2-D applications using SCARA robots. FANUC Robotics’ Intelligent Robots with integrated FANUC Force Sensors provide 3-D assembly with six degrees of freedom. These robots are engineered for precision assembly applications and the most demanding mechanical assembly and material removal operations.

The Intelligent Robots include a standard FANUC robot (LR Mate 200iB, M-16iB/20, M-710iB/45 or R-2000iA/165), a FANUC Force Sensor (FS-30 or FS-60) and advanced force control software.

Standard sensor setup schedules and process specific force control instructions make the Intelligent Robots easy to program and operate via the FANUC iPendant.

Process solutions for:

  • Clutch insertion (intermediate, forward, reverse and triple clutch).
  • Valve, bearing and shaft insertion.
  • 3-D assembly applications including spline matching and gear assembly.
  • Flexible part feeding.
  • Material removal applications including polishing, cutting, grinding, deburring and deflashing.
  • Spin welding, hotplate & ultrasonic welding.
  • Product life cycle tests (e.g. automotive door operation, switching operation etc.) requiring constant force application.

Features and Benefits:

  • High reliability – Intelligent Robots are built on standard mechanical arms with a high degree of reliability and proven performance records.
  • Simple to use – Simple data setup menus for force control and standard teach pendant programming for application development make the Intelligent Robots simple to operate.
  • iPendant with available touch screen – Multiple color window interface allows simultaneous display of robot program, force setup and real-time force/ moment (Fx, Fy, Fz, Mx, My, Mz) information during production operation.
  • Force data chart on iPendant – Allows continuous display of actual force variations during the force control operation.
  • Safe to operate – Intelligent Robots are compliant with RIA 15.06 safety standards. Low speed teach mode switch and dual channel E-STOP interface make Intelligent Robots safe to operate in a production environment.
  • Easy to communicate with PC – Built-in Ethernet communication capability allows Intelligent Robots to communicate relevant process data to a PC via Ethernet.

FS30/FS60 Force Sensors

DualARM

FANUC Robotics’ DualARM System allows two robots and a positioner to be controlled in a single program with coordinated motion and arc start synchronization. The system provides the optimum solution for dual robot processing on a single positioner.

The DualARM System includes hardware and software designed to simplify workcell integration. Setup time and process development are made easier through intelligent control of two ARC Mate series robots and positioners.

The DualARM System provides metalworking manufacturers several key advantages, including:

  • Provides a single point of control since both robots are controlled with a single teach pendant and CPU.  This allows for easy operation, maintenance, programming and implementation.
  • The use of two robots to weld parts is an ideal option for automotive components including axles, IP's and chassis.
  • Helps expand the boundary for handling applications with heavy-duty payloads such as large automotive parts and truck frames.
  • Optional Lincoln Power Wave T series with ArcLink T interface allows setup of the entire welding system with a single teach pendant.
  • Controller cabinets provide space for extra I/O or auxiliary axis hardware.
  • Increases safety by allowing operators to disable one robot to verify programs.
