System 100 Welding Cell

Overview

For the fastest solution to increasing capacity for welding, glueing, sealing, cutting and deburring, the System 100 Series brings robotic process applications firmly into the ‘plug and produce’ category of machine tools. Delivered as a complete assembly, System 100 cells can be up and running, producing quality welds or accurately laying beads of sealant or adhesive, within one hour of positioning on the shop floor. Ideal for jobbing welders, and electronics subcontract component assemblers, all cells are equally at home with high volume production runs. Capitalising on technology developed from thousands of FANUC process application systems installed worldwide, customers benefit from high performance at ’short pay back’ prices. Based on a single shift operation the system can typically show a return on investment (ROI) within six months – over three shifts ROI is achieved much sooner.

Using its well proven, and technically advanced, ArcMate 100i Robot, System 100 Series Cells gets users up and running in the shortest possible time with near ‘off the shelf’ deliveries.

Cell control provided by the intelligent RJ3i controller allows users to specify a wide range of options if required including Touch Sensing and Seam Tracking ensuring the widest range of work can be undertaken.

Product DescriptionS100_01

A ’self contained’ robotic process application cell, the System 100 is delivered to the customer in a ready-to-go state. All that is required once it has been delivered to site is positioning and connecting to ‘services’ as required. The system is supplied complete with weld equipment/adhesive dispensing system specified by the customer at the time of order.

The robot and work positioning table is enclosed within a guarded area accessible through a door fitted with a key exchange safety system. Customer tooling is located onto the work positioning table which has two positions allowing loading of components and the process to be carried out at the same time.
The Series has two variants:

  • System 100 – has a manually operated work positioning table
  • System 120 – has an electrically operated work positioning table

Specification

Robot arm options

S100_02A choice of FANUC Robots are available for use with the System 100 Series dependent on the application requirements. Options include (but not limited to) the Arc Mate 100i and Arc Mate 120i robots for arc welding, and the M6 and M16 for sealing and other applications. Making the System 100 even more cost effective, these robots can also be supplied in a reduced specification version the iBe range – where certain features such as ‘through arm cable routing’ are not essential.

All Robot options are six-axis with modular construction and AC brushless servo-drives designed for precise, high-speed welding, cutting and sealant applications. Based on their simple and reliable construction, all FANUC robots provide accurate and consistent path performance.

Control

Overall cell control is through FANUC’s R-J3i Controller. Easy to use software uses terms allowing operators to quickly develop programming skills. The teach pendant has application-specific hard keys enabling intuitive control of the operation.

Application specific equipment

Sealant dispensing and weld equipment are optional to be specified at the time of order such that pre installation commissioning of the cell can be completed prior to delivery.

Guarding

The cell is totally enclosed. Key exchange interlocks, allowing access for maintenance and programming, are fitted to the door and turntable and wired through to the control system.
